Eric Chodnicki

Name: Eric J Chodnicki
Location: Bel Air, MD
Category: Cat II (Sport) 40-49 Men
Strengths: I dont give up easy and love riding singletrack.

I race for my own enjoyment and enjoy the camaraderie of the sport.  I bought my first mtb in 1992 and never stopped enjoying riding, even when I wasnt.  After a lengthy hiatus from two-wheels I was fortunate to find my affinity for this sport once again at the tender age of 39.  My first ever race was good ole Fair Hill that year and I finished dead last...but that was the last time.  The next race I finished second to dead last (hahaha) but I honestly kept on riding and trying; I never gave up. This will be the fourth season of racing for me and I have been fortunate to ride with some good people, and friends, each who have helped me learn and continue to grow as a mountain biker and person...its a great community!

Last year was a rough one, I dnf’d for the first time, carried my ride across the finish line at French Creek (my favorite race/course), and found myself way behind the curve in the new 9-year age groups...but I am still here.  The toughest part about this year is finding the time...I have committed to coaching my 9-yr old daughters travel soccer team (last fall was our first season) and it takes more time than I thought...but dont count me out just yet...I will make it to 5, maybe 6 races this year and hopefully come away smiling.  I also hope to catch a few races as a spectator and help out any way possible.

I ride year round and hit the road whenever the trails are not suitable...but prefer the trails.  I have been known to join in a century ride now and again, or even some other local road stuff...but I always come back to the woods.  For a living I work as an environmental consultant so nature is where I prefer to hang my hat.

I am sorry to have missed out on the early gatherings/races so far but our spring travel season is over May 14th and I hope to be more available after that.  Im the meanwhile, know that I am there in spirit! Hahaha!  Looking forward to meeting everyone!
